Hello Kindergarten 2024 Parents and Carers and Welcome to Eastwood Heights Public School!
Starting school is a significant event in the life of children and their families. Strong relationships and information sharing between families, early childhood settings and schools help support a child's successful transition to school.
If you wish to enrol your child at our school, please go to our enrolment page for information on how to enrol. Your child can start Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year if they turn five on or before 31 July in that year. By law, all children must be enrolled in school by their sixth birthday. It is an individual decision when your child starts school, and you may wish to speak to your child’s Early Childhood Educators or our school to help with this decision. If your child requires additional support, whether it’s academic, social or emotional, please contact the school and make an appointment to discuss these needs.
On Thursday 27 July at 4.30pm we will be running a School Readiness Information Session via Zoom. This session is for parents to gain an insight into what is expected of your child at school and ways parents can support and prepare them for this transition. The session will also guide parents in the big decision of whether to send younger students to school or wait until the following year. All parents are welcome to attend even if they are not in the Eastwood heights catchment area.
On Wednesday 18 October we will be running an EHPS School Information Evening in our school hall at 6pm. This session is for all parents who have children starting Kindergarten in 2024. The session will run for approximately one hour. This information session should answer all your questions about starting school and the activities we have put in place to ensure a smooth transition. It is essential for all parents to attend.
Our Kindergarten Orientation (Kindy School) will be held on Tuesday 24 October, Tuesday 31 October and Thursday 2 November between 9.45am and 11.45am. It is preferable for you child to attend all three sessions.
Please regularly check the school’s website for updates and the latest Kindergarten 2024 news.
We are looking forward to meeting all our new 2024 Kindergarten students and families.
Kind regards,
Jenny Calagis
