Hello Kindergarten Parents and Carers and Welcome to Eastwood Heights Public School!
Starting school is a significant event in the life of children and their families. Strong relationships and information sharing between families, early childhood settings and schools help support a child's successful transition to school.
When to start school
Your child can start Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year if they turn five on or before 31 July in that year. By law, all children must be enrolled in school by their sixth birthday.
It is an individual decision when your child starts school, and you may wish to speak to your child’s Early Childhood Educators or our school to help with this decision.
If your child requires additional support, whether it’s academic, social or emotional, please contact the school and make an appointment to discuss these needs.

Our Kindergarten Orientation (Kindy School) will be held on Tuesday 28 October, Tuesday 4 November and Tuesday 11 November 2025 between 10.30am and 11.30am. It is preferable for you child to attend all three sessions.
Kindergarten Tours
Our Kindergarten Tours will be held on Friday 20 June, Friday 15 August and Friday 12 September 2025 at 10am. The Kindergarten tours are a chance for parents to come along and meet our principal and hear about our wonderful school. It involves a tour of the school and inside the Kindergarten rooms.

On Tuesday 28 October 2025 we will be running an EHPS school information evening in our school hall at 10.15am
The session will run for approximately 90 minutes and will cover the following:

It is essential for all parents to attend. This is a parent only evening.
Best Start Kindergarten assesment
The best start assesment is a tool to help teachers assess your child's skills as they enter school, and to tailor teaching to their individual needs. Teachers will sit with your child when they start school to assess your child's literacy and numeracy skills so that they can develop an appropriate teaching program that caters for your child.
Please regularly check the school’s website for updates and the latest Kindergarten 2026 news.
We are looking forward to meeting all our new 2026 Kindergarten students and families.
Kind regards,
Karen Sparrow
