Kindergarten enrolments

Hello Kindergarten  Parents and Carers and Welcome to Eastwood Heights Public School!

Starting school is a significant event in the life of children and their families. Strong relationships and information sharing between families, early childhood settings and schools help support a child's successful transition to school.

When to start school

Your child can start Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year if they turn five on or before 31 July in that year. By law, all children must be enrolled in school by their sixth birthday.
It is an individual decision when your child starts school, and you may wish to speak to your child’s Early Childhood Educators or our school to help with this decision.

If your child requires additional support, whether it’s academic, social or emotional, please contact the school and make an appointment to discuss these needs.

Kindy School

Our Kindergarten Orientation (Kindy School) will be held on Tuesday 29 October 2024, Monday 4 November 2024 and Wednesday 6 November 2024 between 9.45am and 11.45am. It is preferable for you child to attend all three sessions.

Kindergarten Tours

Our Kindergarten Tours will be held on Tuesday 28 June 2024, Friday 23 August 2024 and Friday 27 September 2024 at 10am. The Kindergarten tours are a chance for parents to come along and meet our principal and hear about our wonderful school. It involves a tour of the school and inside the Kindergarten rooms.

Kindy Information Evening

On Wednesday 23 October 2024 we will be running an EHPS school information evening in our school hall at 6pm.

This session is for all parents who have children starting kindergarten in 2025.

It is essential for all parents to attend.

Transition to school

We have a set of planned activities to assist your child to make a smooth transition to Kindergarten. Research indicates that children who settle quickly into school are more likely to be socially competent and achieve better results. Contact us to find out about our activities and how you can be involved.

Best Start Kindergarten assesment

The best start assesment is a tool to help teachers assess your child's skills as they enter school, and to tailor teaching to their individual needs. Teachers will sit with your child when they start school to assess your child's literacy and numeracy skills so that they can develop an appropriate teaching program that caters for your child.

Please regularly check the school’s website for updates and the latest Kindergarten 2025 news.

We are looking forward to meeting all our new 2025 Kindergarten students and families.

Kind regards,

Jenny Calagis
